Using I-Learn in PE and at Home
WCMS physical education classes use the I-learn online classroom to take unit tests, complete open response questions, and record fitness data. This system allows students access from any computer that has internet access. Students will have a limited amount of in-class time to complete the required assignments. Unfinished class work will be completed as homework. This could be done in the computer lab or at home (if the student has internet access). All WCMS PE students are taught how to use the system. Here is a quick overview of how to access the online PE classroom in order to complete the I-learn assignments.
Getting Started
Once on the internet, go to http://ilearn.woodfordschools.org/ this is the Woodford County Webpage.
Login to the I-learn system located on the right of the screen below the calendar.
The computer may ask a couple of questions because I-learn is not a Microsoft Windows program. Simply click OK and YES to the questions to complete the login process.
Once logged in, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you should see a box labeled “My Courses”. Within that box should be a link labeled Physical Education. Click on the word Physical Education (not on your teacher’s name).
This will open the online PE classroom and allow you to choose what you want to complete. If you want to record cardio room fitness data click on Fitness Records. If you want to complete a Unit Quiz click on the unit quiz you want to complete.
Working from Home
If you find you cannot complete all of your required assignments in class, you can use the same directions to login from home. All of the unit tests and open response questions come from the PE textbook Fitness for Life. You can check out a textbook from your PE teacher for overnight use, and you can also find most of the information online at: http://www.fitnessforlife.org/MiddleSchool/student/
Why Online Learning in PE?
Why not? Most middle school students use a computer on a daily basis. Computer based learning is a form of education that continues to grow throughout all levels of education. We take advantage of the technology to reduce paper waste, teach computer skills, and help speed the grading process. The I-learn program also offers immediate feedback to multiple choice questions for all students; a task that takes hours for a human to complete.
If you have questions or problems using the I-learn system to complete your PE assignments, please ask your PE teacher.
