Technology Education 7th Grade Level
Woodford Co. Middle School

1.  Course Description:  Technology education at Woodford Co. Middle School allows students to explore the cluster areas of Power and Transportation, Construction, Communications, and Manufacturing.  The students can then apply this knowledge to future educational and career choices.

This gives the students an opportunity to look at the many technological areas for better preparation in making decisions about personal needs and future goals.

2.  Class Duration:  75 minutes

3.  Class Size:  18

4.  Materials furnished by student:  Minimal

5.  Textbook:  None required.

6.  Grading Policy:  20% of grade will result from tests and written assignments; 80% from projects and/or lab work.

7.  Objectives:  To create learning situations that will cause the student to become one who:

a. Has an understanding of safety as it relates to technology in the work place.
b. Is skilled in the use of the English measuring system.
c. Develops an understanding of the many different types of tools used in the world of technology.
d. Develops an understanding of basic house construction.
e. Develops an understanding of Plastics Technology.
f. Develops an understanding of Hot and Cold Metals Technology.
g. Develops an understanding of power and its relationship to transportation.
h. Develops an understanding of manufacturing as it relates to mass production.
i. Develops an understanding of the communication industry.
j. Develops an understanding of Robotics.
k. Develops an understanding of Laser Technology.
l. Develops an understanding of Computer Aided Drafting.
m. Develops an understanding of Electronics Technology.
n. Develops an understanding of creative problem solving.
